
For the second consecutive year, Gordon Trucking, Inc. has been awarded the safest large carrier fleet in Oregon by Great West Casualty and the Oregon Trucking Association.
The honor was presented to Scott Manthey, vice president of safety and Laura Poteet, regional risk manager on April 19 at the Oregon Safe Carrier awards in Lincoln City, Ore.
In order to be considered a top safety carrier in Oregon, trucking companies are measured by their Department of Transportation accident ratio per million miles driven in the state. Gordon Trucking is proud to have earned first place in this criteria.

Gordon Trucking, Inc. was presented with two safety awards from the California Trucking Association on April 4 at the Grand Sheraton in Sacramento, Calif.
GTI’s Northern California Fleet that runs primarily between northern and southern California was awarded first place for local fleets in the 2-4 million miles category and Gordon Trucking as a whole, received third place in the truckload over 7 million miles division.
The CTA safety awards program judges trucking companies on specific safety performance dimensions including accident frequency, personnel and hiring systems, documented safety policies and procedures, driver-safety training, internal accident handling procedures and participation in the association’s safety activities.

Gordon Trucking, Inc. is excited to announce Michael Black as its first ever Driver of the Year recipient. The prestigious title was declared Saturday at the company’s annual business meeting held at the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, Wash.
Mike joined the other 11 Driver of the Year finalists from across the country in a two day celebration that included lunch with GTI’s Executive team at the company’s headquarters in Pacific.
In order to be named a finalist, a solo or team company driver had to meet some remarkable goals set by GTI that include a perfect service record, no preventable incidents, a CSA score of zero and no tickets or violations for the entire year. All finalists were in attendance at the meeting Saturday when Mike’s name was drawn.

LAS VEGAS - Gordon Trucking, Inc. company driver Daniel Poorman was named Company Truck Driver of the Year by the Truckload Carriers Association at their 2013 Annual Convention on Tuesday, March 5.
Dan has been with GTI since 1992 and has amassed more than 2.75 million accident free miles during his career. His father, Edward “Bud” Poorman also drove for GTI including a time period when the company was called Gordon Fast Freight. Bud, his wife Cleora and Dan’s wife Vanessa were all in attendance at the event to see Dan accept this prestigious honor.
The Driver of the Year contest, sponsored by Cummins Inc. and Chevron Delo, in conjunction with Randall-Reilly publishing, recognizes top company drivers and owner operators in the U.S. and Canada who provide reliable and safe truck transportation in moving the nation’s goods. Dan was selected from three finalists as the overall winner in North America. In the U.S. alone, there are more than 3.5 million commercial truck drivers.

Gordon Trucking, Inc. is pleased to announce that 27 of its professional truck driving associates joined or renewed their membership in the Wisconsin Motor Carrier’s President’s Safe Driver Club on March 9 in De Pere, Wis.
Established in 1996 by the Wisconsin Council of Safety Supervisors, the PSDC was created to recognize safe professional truck drivers that work for members of the Wisconsin Motor Carrier Association.
To be eligible for the honor, a driver must be a full-time company driver or permanent leased operator who lives and drives in Wisconsin, or is dispatched from a terminal within the state. Since 2005, GTI has had a fully operating terminal in Green Bay, Wis. where a majority of these outstanding drivers call their home terminal.

For the fourth consecutive year, Gordon Trucking, Inc. has been named the safest U.S. based trucking company in its division by the Truckload Carriers Association.
The divisional winners were announced Feb. 21 on the TCA Web site in an official press release out of Alexandria, Va. Celebrating its 37th year, the National Fleet Safety Awards recognize trucking companies that demonstrate a superior commitment to safety and accident reduction.
Scoring in the 100 million or more miles driven per year division, GTI will compete against winners of the 25 – 50 million miles per year and 50-100 million miles per year for the grand prize award.

Gordon Trucking, Inc. has been recognized as Quaker’s Western Regional Carrier of the Year for 2012.
The honor was announced on January 3 by Quaker Senior Director of Transportation, Drew Stimple.
Gordon Trucking currently does business with Quaker through the Southwest and Midwest with a majority of the operation running in and out of California.
All regional winners were recognized at a celebration dinner on January 22 in Chicago. In attendance on behalf of GTI were Chief Operating Officer Steve Gordon, Vice Presidents Bob Peterson and Dan Greenwood, Sales Director Troy Fulmer and Quaker Account Manager Laurie Miller.

MINNEAPOLIS – General Mills announced Gordon Trucking, Inc. as its Dry Carrier of the Year at their annual carrier conference on August 7.
In order to receive such distinction, carriers must receive the top ranking on General Mills’ scorecard process which includes delivery performance, communication and tender acceptance.
The award was presented to a group of GTI’s leadership team that included Steve Gordon – chief operating officer, Laurie Murphy – vice president of national account sales and Tom Jaeger – director of national accounts.
General Mills is one of GTI’s largest customers for dry freight and since 2008, GTI has served as General Mills carrier captain for the west coast. GTI employee Heidi Schiell works on-site at General Mills in Minneapolis and said she is thrilled to receive such an honor.

Gordon Trucking, Inc. was recognized as Washington state's Safe Fleet of the Year by the Washington State Patrol and Washington Trucking Association for the sixth year in a row. The honor was presented to the Gordon family on July 21 at the Emerald Downs race track in Auburn, Wash.
The Safe Fleet of the Year award is for common carrier fleets based in Washington State that operate in excess of 5 million miles per year. Criteria for this award include safe miles, overall compliance and providing a positive influence on others in the trucking industry.
In addition to the Safe Fleet of the year honor, GTI was also recognized as the Grand Champion for safety, honoring the company as the safest fleet across all categories. This was the third time in the past four years GTI was named Grand Champion.
Safety Vice-president Scott Manthey was also in attendance at the awards ceremony.

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Gordon Trucking Driver Tom Eklund was awarded the 2012 Dedicated Driver of the Year by Georgia Pacific.
The honor was presented to Tom who was joined by his wife Pauline, Steve Gordon - chief operating officer, Bob Peterson - vice president of operations and other members of GTI’s leadership team at Georgia Pacific’s annual carrier conference on July 11.
Tom has been driving for GTI since 1998 and is closing in on 2 million safe driving miles. He also has a perfect service record and serves as a GTI driver trainer. About 20 percent of the Georgia Pacific Dedicated fleet were either directly trained by Tom, or trained by his former students that have become driver trainers themselves.
Wearing a new suit and dress shoes, Tom said he was most focused on not tripping when walking up the steps to accept his award.
