Ground breaking for new GTI Lathrop terminal begins

Lathrop GrounbreakingLATHROP, Calif. – Gordon Trucking Inc is pleased to announce the ground breaking of its newest terminal for Northern California operations.

Accompanied by Lathrop Mayor J. “Chaka” Santos and Vice Mayor, Christopher Mateo, GTI executives and management participated in the ceremonial dig on April 16.

The terminal will encompass 16 acres and include a new 23,000 square-foot facility with a target grand-opening in November of this year.

A recent recipient of Fleet Owner Magazine’s Green Award and a California Trucking Association’s Safe Carrier of the Year Honor, GTI is excited to have begun the preliminary stages of its future move to the Lathrop community.

“Our goal is to operate the best business possible,” said Jim Dingman, director of northern California operations. “Our focus is and will continue to be safety, service and sustainability to our many customers, the environment and to all of the fine communities in which we reside. We’re excited to be a part of the Lathrop community as we share the same set of values.”

The ground breaking of the new terminal also means additional career opportunities for the local community. GTI currently employees about 350 driving, maintenance and office associates at its Modesto location and plans to add approximately 50 full-time jobs upon completion of the move to Lathrop.

For current and future career opportunities, please continue to check GTI’s official company Web site.

In June of 2009, GTI opened its new 18,000 square-foot terminal for Southern California operations in Rancho Cucamonga. At the grand-opening, customers, vendors and city officials were in attendance to see the facility. The same will occur upon the completion of the new Lathrop terminal.

Look for further updates regarding the building and moving process to be posted throughout the spring and summer months.
